Op zaterdag 6 juli 2024 gaat de nieuwe musical AVALON in première in het Buytenpark Openluchttheater. Deze mystieke musical van Tjeerd de Haas & Sebastiaan Smits, gebaseerd op de legende van koning Arthur en de Ridders van de Ronde Tafel, biedt een unieke beleving tegen de natuurlijke achtergrond van het Zoetermeerse Buytenpark.

AVALON vertelt het verhaal van Morgain, voorbestemd om de nieuwe Vrouwe van het Meer te worden en de hogepriesteres van Avalon. Als halfzus van koning Arthur raakt ze betrokken bij de intriges aan het hof, vooral wanneer Arthur trouwt met de christelijke koningin Gwenwhyfar die verliefd wordt op Lancelot. De hoofdrol van Morgain wordt afwisselend gespeeld door Emma van Waaij en Iris Langenberg, met verdere rollen voor onder anderen Kenneth Fens, Mitchell van Rijn en Milan van Weelden. De musical speelt uitsluitend twee weken, van 3 t/m 14 juli, in het Buytenpark Theater.

In 2012 werd AVALON al uitgevoerd oor Greg & Baud.
