Na jarenlange inzet voor de stad keert wethouder Blansjaar van de Partij voor de democratie Zoetermeer (PvdZ) na de komende verkiezingen niet terug in de Zoetermeerse politiek. Hij geeft aan dat het tijd is om het stokje over te dragen aan een jongere generatie.

Blansjaar, woonachtig in Rokkeveen, is een bekend gezicht in de stad. Met een lange loopbaan in de horeca en als ondernemer heeft hij diepe wortels in Zoetermeer. “Naast mijn werk als horecaondernemer ben ik 27 jaar bestuurslid geweest van het Stadshart Zoetermeer, waarvan de laatste 12 jaar als voorzitter,” aldus Blansjaar. Ook was hij meer dan 25 jaar lang voorzitter van Koninklijke Horeca Nederland, afdeling Zoetermeer en omstreken.

Zijn betrokkenheid strekte zich verder uit dan de lokale horeca. Vanaf 1996 was Blansjaar actief als examinator voor de UHO op niveau 4. In 2005 trad hij toe tot de landelijke examencommissie van de Stichting Vakopleiding Horeca.

Wie hem binnen de PvdZ zal opvolgen is op dit moment nog niet bekend.
