In Bibliotheek Forum Zoetermeer is de expositie ‘Wel poep, geen troep in ons riool’ geopend door wethouder Marijke van der Meer. De tentoonstelling laat zien wat er wel en niet in het riool thuishoort en hoe verkeerd gebruik kan leiden tot verstoppingen. Met de expositie wil de gemeente duidelijk maken welke eenvoudige handelingen bijdragen aan het voorkomen van schade in het rioolstelsel.

Aandacht voor feestdagen

Tijdens de opening wees de wethouder op de jaarlijkse stijging van verstoppingen rond de feestdagen. Volgens Van der Meer ontstaan veel problemen doordat gebruikt vet uit pannen en gourmetstellen via gootsteen of toilet wordt weggespoeld. De expositie legt uit hoe verstoppingen zich vormen en hoe vet op een juiste manier kan worden afgevoerd, bijvoorbeeld door het op te vangen in een fles en in te leveren bij supermarkten of het Zelfbrengdepot. Minder verstoppingen betekent minder herstelwerk en voorkomt extra kosten voor inwoners.

Effect campagne zichtbaar

De tentoonstelling sluit aan bij de lopende campagne ‘Wel poep, geen troep in ons riool’. Sinds de start daarvan is een daling van het aantal verstoppingen gemeten. Volgens de wethouder laat dit zien dat bewustwording werkt en dat voortzetting van de campagne noodzakelijk blijft. De expositie vormt een nieuwe stap in die aanpak.
