De fractie van GroenLinks Zoetermeer, onder leiding van Jordy Boerboom, pleit voor meer aandacht voor duurzame stadsontwikkeling en CO2-neutraliteit in de gemeentelijke begroting. Boerboom benadrukt de noodzaak om innovatieve vervoersoplossingen en minder parkeergelegenheid in de binnenstad te overwegen, teneinde ruimte vrij te maken voor extra woningen. Daarnaast roept hij op tot beter gebruik van het beschikbare duurzaamheidsfonds om ondernemers te ondersteunen bij verduurzaming en benadrukt het belang van aanvullende financieringsmogelijkheden voor inwoners.

Volgens Boerboom is het doel van de fractie om Zoetermeer in 2040 CO2-neutraal te maken, ondanks de uitdagingen en kosten die hierbij komen kijken. Hij uit zijn bezorgdheid over het terugdraaien van landelijke maatregelen zoals de verplichte warmtepomp, wat de verduurzaming op lokaal niveau kan belemmeren. De fractievoorzitter prijst initiatieven zoals de autoluwe bouw in Edison Park, maar benadrukt dat de gemeente mogelijk extra stappen moet zetten om landelijke tekortkomingen te compenseren.
