Ook in Zoetermeer is vandaag goed te merken dat storm Amy over Nederland trekt. Na een nacht met veel regen is het nu vooral de wind die opvalt. Volgens weerplatforms als Buienradar en Weerplaza kunnen in deze regio windstoten tot ongeveer 90 kilometer per uur voorkomen. Het KNMI heeft voor het hele land code geel afgegeven vanwege de kans op zware windstoten.

De storm begon als orkaan Humberto boven de Atlantische Oceaan en bereikte West-Europa in afgezwakte vorm. In Ierland en Schotland veroorzaakte Amy nog windstoten tot 175 kilometer per uur en stroomstoringen, maar in Nederland zijn zulke extremen niet verwacht. De harde wind kan wel plaatselijk voor overlast zorgen, bijvoorbeeld door vallende takken of hinder in het verkeer.

In Zoetermeer trekken verspreid nog buien over, afgewisseld met opklaringen. De verwachting is dat de wind later vanavond iets afneemt, al blijft het weer onstuimig. Storm Amy lijkt daarmee vooral te zorgen voor een winderige en natte dag, zonder grote problemen in de regio.
