Wethouder Wim Blansjaar (PDvZ) heeft aangekondigd dat hij na deze bestuursperiode stopt als bestuurder van Zoetermeer. Na jarenlange inzet voor de lokale politiek kiest hij ervoor om zich op een andere manier in te zetten voor de stad.

Blansjaar sloot niet uit dat hij in de toekomst terugkeert als raadslid, maar hij wil voorlopig afstand nemen van het college. “Na deze periode is het goed om het stokje over te dragen,” aldus de wethouder. Hij noemt de toenemende bureaucratie binnen de overheid als een van de redenen voor zijn vertrek.

De gemeenteraad zal later dit jaar bespreken hoe zijn portefeuille wordt overgenomen. Blansjaar blijft tot die tijd actief in zijn huidige functie.
